About Us
Mountain Base Animal Homestay is a home away from home for your furry best friend. We cater to medium - large breed dogs, offering doggy day care and extended overnight stays.
We never have more than two dogs stay at a time to ensure that your pup is always part of the family.
Set on a fully fenced 1.2ha block in the Upper Waitaki, there is plenty to keep your pooch entertained. We are also set up to host visiting horses, get in touch with us if you'd like to discuss a stay.
Our Story
We are Charlotte and Jack, the humans behind Mountain Base Animal Homestay, along with our furry permenant residents, Copper the Labrador, Monty the clydesdale, and Daphne and Ziggy the rescue miniature horses.
Mountain Base Animal Homestay was born from our own reluctance to leave our dog in kennels when we went away.
Most kennels are well run and look after their guests superbly well, it's just that our wee boy (giant Lab!) loves his humans, and we couldn't bear to leave him locked up. So we decided to open our home and welcome our four-legged guests as if they were our own family, making sure they have a blast so that you can enjoy your time away.
